Which types of Cayman Islands visas require this medical?

A medical certificate is mandatory for any Work Permit lasting longer than three months. It is also a requirement for applications for Permanent Residency, Caymanian Status, and long-term Student Visas. Standard visitors or those on short-term temporary work permits may be exempt.

When should I book my medical?

You should aim to book your medical 4–6 weeks before your application submission. The physical medical form and doctor’s signature are valid for 1 year, but the mandatory laboratory tests (HIV/Syphilis) must have been conducted within 6 months of the application date.

How long does the appointment take and when do I get results?

The clinic appointment takes approximately 30–45 minutes. As we must wait for the laboratory results and the radiologist’s report for your Chest X-ray, the final completed Cayman Islands medical form is typically ready within 3–5 working days.

Is the Cayman Islands HIV test different from a standard UK test?

The Cayman Islands requires an HIV screening, but they are very specific about the timeframe. The test usually must be performed within 6 months of your arrival. We use high-accuracy Lab-based IV Generation tests for this.

Do I need to be screened for Syphilis for the Cayman Islands?

Yes, a VDRL or RPR test for Syphilis is a mandatory requirement for the Cayman Islands medical certificate. We provide the certified lab report as evidence.

Yes. Regardless of your vaccination history, the Cayman Islands requires a chest X-ray to prove you are currently free of active Tuberculosis.

Can the Cayman Islands medical be done for children?
