About our Clinic

Why do I need a Summer Camp Medical?

To work at a summer camp in the United States, you must prove that you are fit and healthy enough to handle the physical demands of looking after children and participating in outdoor activities. Most camp organizations require a signed medical form from a doctor to secure your visa and your placement.

Specialised Assessment for Camp Life

The assessment focuses on:

  • Physical Fitness: Ensuring you can manage the active, outdoor lifestyle of a camp counselor.
  • General Health Screening: Checking blood pressure, pulse, and basic cardiovascular health.
  • Immunisation Review: Verifying your vaccine history (including MMR and Meningitis) to meet US health requirements.
  • Medical History Review: Discussing any ongoing conditions to ensure you have the support you need while abroad.

Dont forget to bring with you

Joyful multigenerational group of friends and family celebrating outdoors. Diverse people of various ages and ethnicities enjoying time together in nature, sitting on a wooden fence - unity, happiness

FAQs about Summer Camp Medicals

Do I need my full GP records?

No, a brief “Medical Summary” or “Patient Summary” which includes your vaccination history is usually all we need. You can request this from your GP surgery or often find it on the NHS app.
We can review your requirements during the medical. If you need specific boosters for your US visa or camp role, we can advise you on how to obtain these.
In most cases, yes. As long as your condition is stable and well-managed, our doctors can certify your fitness to work.
Most camps use a standard “Health History” form (like the Camp America or CCUSA forms). Our doctors are familiar with these and ensure every section, including the “Physical Exam” and “Immunizations,” is filled.
Yes. US camps are very strict about vaccinations (MMR, Polio, Hepatitis B, Meningitis, and TB). You should bring a printout of your vaccine history from your GP to the appointment.
Many US camps require a TB skin test (Mantoux) or a blood test (Quantiferon). If you have had a BCG vaccine, we can provide the necessary blood test to prove you are clear of the disease.
Working 24/7 with children in a remote environment is stressful. The doctor will discuss your mental health history to ensure you have the resilience and support needed for the summer.
Yes, a basic urinalysis is often required to screen for underlying issues like diabetes or kidney infections before you head to the USA.
