About our Clinic

What is a Motorsport Medical

To apply for or renew any competition licence, Motorsport UK requires all applicants to complete a mandatory medical assessment, and at Midland Medical, we provide the necessary examination you need to secure your licence. While a standard Motorsport Medical typically remains valid for 12 months, the specific requirements vary significantly depending on your age and the licence level you hold: for International Licence Renewals, applicants under 49 require a resting ECG, while those aged 50 and over must undergo a full Exercise/Stress ECG; for National or Inter-Club Race, Truck, or Long Circuit Kart Licence Renewals, a 12-lead resting ECG is specifically required at ages 60, 65, 70, 72, 74, and then annually from the age of 75 onwards. We ensure your medical is conducted correctly and meets the exact standards set by Motorsport UK for your specific licence category.

FAQs about our Motorsport Medical

How long is the Motorsport Medical Certificate valid for?

The medical report completed by our doctor is generally valid for 12 months from the date of the examination. You must ensure your licence application or renewal is processed by Motorsport UK before this validity period expires.

It is strongly recommended to book your medical at least 4-6 weeks before your current licence expires. This crucial lead time allows for any necessary follow-up tests (like a specialist referral or a re-check for high BP) that might be required before the doctor can sign your final paperwork.
