About our Clinic

What is a MIRA Entry Medical?

A MIRA Entry Medical (or Entry Pass Medical) is the primary health screening required for anyone applying for a new access permit at the Horiba MIRA site. Because the proving ground involves high-speed vehicle testing and autonomous hazards, you must demonstrate a specific level of physical fitness before an ID pass can be issued.

Our doctors assess whether you are:

  • Safe enough to operate within a live testing environment.
  • Aware enough to identify and react to prototype vehicle hazards.
  • Fit enough to handle the physical demands of a high-tech automotive site.

To gain your initial entry pass, you must meet the D4 Group 2 standards to ensure you can safely manage:

  • Initial site inductions and safety protocols.
  • Interaction with high-speed testing zones.
  • Safe entry and exit from prototype vehicles.
  • Working around specialised automotive machinery.

FAQs about our MIRA Medical

Do I need an 'Entry Medical' or just a 'Medical'?

If you are applying for a new permit or it is your first time working on-site, you require the Entry Medical. If you are an existing pass holder looking to renew, the standard Horiba MIRA Medical is usually what you need.
Once passed, your entry clearance is typically valid for the duration of your permit (often 3 years), though this depends on your age and specific role requirements.
We provide the medical certificate on the day. You must then submit this to the Horiba MIRA security/permits office to finalize your site access.
Because the MIRA proving ground involves high-speed testing and rapid acceleration, they use the same strict medical standard as HGV drivers to ensure maximum safety.
This is a specific check of your joints and spine. The doctor ensures you can handle the vibrations, G-forces, and repetitive “entry and exit” from test vehicles without risk of injury.
Since MIRA follows Group 2 standards, certain heart conditions (like a recent stent or arrhythmia) require a “waiting period” or a specialist report before you can be cleared to drive on the proving ground.
